EA has announced multiple AI otpions to fill the needs of both major group of RTS players, What do you think about this decsion? do you think it will benfit the community?
Also the game will cater to both the rusher and the turtle players. EA is making a comprehensive AI. “Finally!!!” I have pushed this idea since BFME1, but anyways you will have a choice outside your hard, medium, and easy. You will be able to choose if you want a rush game or a nice drawn out build huge armies type of game.

Theory sounds good but I cant say until I actually play and struggle against the AI.

I've never seen EA LA giving a challenging AI. Everytime they said the same thing but the AI never was good, in BfME 1 actually people could win vs 7 Hard AI's alone lol. Well some new companies are trying to add a lot to the AI's like you can set if it should rush or not rush or if it should just defend and stuff. Sledge made a poll about this with all these possibilities.
Generally I think the AI should be like someone who plays like a decent online player, an AI where you need to react fast and that it sets pressure on you all the game and attacks from 3 sides and stuff. But we'll see I hope they get it right.

The rush and turtle options sound very interesting! Glad they will be putting it in!

It hasn't been confirmed I'm only saying that other companies like Big Huge Games have set it in their new games. Its pretty new and buggy but its works well :) hope EA LA sees this idea ;).

It has been confirmed, Mike Verdue and the Development team told me directly that there will be 2 major tyopes of AI's.

Nice. Can you also tell what type of 2 AI's? Like Rush or Turtle, aggressive or defense etc..

Sorry for bump, but I do think this is sorta cheap. IMO the AI's in RTS games have always lacked initiative, in most games the AI reacts to the player and what he does, and then usually defends or does whatever makes it win.
I prefer games where the AI attacks you at random times, and that it can't see what you're doing just like normal opponents can't in multiplayer.
For C&C3 it sounds like the AI will see what you're doing, so as soon as you start producing units, it starts defending itself and trying to stop your rush. If this is the case, once against you'll know the AI's actions and that means it doesnt have initiatve.

I guess it all depends on what level of play you want to face. For the purpose of skirmish, imo, AI that can see you and make moves accordingly is perfectly fine. If, however, you want an opponent that's on a level playing field as you, the only real choice is going online against people.
Too often in the gaming world do gamers expect the AI to act human... it just can't. You can't script something that is just as intuitive and intelligent as a human. If you could our cars would drive themselves, we would have robots doing the cleaning, and we would have no more soldiers.
AI is limited by the code... humans aren't.

AI = Artificial Intelligence right? Current range of Artificial players dont fit to the description of AI.
Anyway thats why I hardly play skirmish :P

That's correct.
LOL... i think he was only saying to emphasize his point. But he is right... at this point in time for BFME2 AI means Artificial Idiocy.
