View Full Version : Is Starcraft II becoming too CnCish?

On other Starcraft fansites, I've noticed a complaint among many that a lot of Starcraft II's new units are making it too much like the Command and Conquer games.

Frequently cited are the Thor (Juggernaut), Mothership (Superweapon), Reapers (jump jet infantry, time bombs), the yellow mineral fields, and of course the fact lead designer Dustin Browder worked on the CnC games (not the latest one though) has only added fuel to the flames.

What does everyone else think?

EDIT: This was gonna be a poll, but that doesn't seem to be working. So post your answers in the thread with justification if possible.

I am unsure at this point, the game still has the look and feel of SC2 but as for playing like CnC3 it hard to tell. Units have always clashed in SC2 and CnC but in some cases I can see some major extremes now...

I guess we will figure that out in-game?!?

I suppose part of the reason, either way, is the fact that they've got a lead who worked on CnC... I have to say that HAS to have bled over.

I just hope they don't implement cooldowns... one of the things that was nice about Starcraft was that although it didn't have them, they made up for it by making spells take up a LOT of mana.

most games RTS games have tons of similaritys that make it seem like someone copied someone, but i think it is just normal, when blizzard got and made all of these new changes they didnt notice that.
