I've heard from a lot of people, the only reason they're actually getting Kane's Wrath is the sp component and its storyline?

How about you guys? Do you think C&C3 has failed to present the top multiplayer due to a lack of balancing?

Personally, I dont play C&C3 outside the campaign because of the fact it doesn't really stand out. C&C stood out.... because it was the fist. Tiberian Sun could have stood out more if it wasn't rushed, it did stand out because of some of the graphical and environement bits that hadn't been shown before (blow up bridges, craters, height advantage etc) and ofcourse the fact that its atmosphere was just kick ***!

I think both BfME2 and CnC3 have the problem they only have a few smaller features that are different from existing games. Just look at Company of Heroes, or World in Conflict. Those games featured new types of gameplay in a very slick graphical package. CnC3 does the same, but just not good enough. Nobody is going to care about the new "Conquer the World aka. War of the Ring" functionality just as it didnt work for BfME2.

It's not necessarily that CnC3 is/was imbalanced. The issue is that any balancing went towards gamers that call themselves "pro".

The games turned into 5 minute spam fests. Whoever gets carpel tunnel first wins!

BFME 1 and BFME2 were pretty diffrent. I could see a reason to make them both. Rise of the witchking meh another way to make a buck. Didn't buy it.

But CNC3 then kanes rath is a money sink. Don't do expandtions EA when the first game is broke. Suck up the profit loss and fix it or don't remake it..

I like both single play and multiplayer although single player seems lacking these days.

Apologies for prosthelitising here, but I find the difference between the pro environment for CnC and Starcraft II very interesting.

CnC wanted to be a pro game. So they catered to a select group of people in the US to try and give them what they wanted. And we get a lot of quick games as a result.

Starcraft, meanwhile... they had no intention of making a pro game. And the professional environment grew around the game rather unexpectedly, in part due to Blizzard's good patching/balance support. So now, with the sequel, they're in a better position as they are STARTING with what the pro players already want, and making changes/enhancements from there.

I have a feeling that Starcraft II will do better on the pro gaming front simply because there's already a built-in audience for said market - all they have to do is try to expand that audience. Well, that and the game benefits from being a very exciting and fast game that can still last a while.
